Lagos Seeks Partnership on Mass Literacy Programme
Lagos State Government has called on Religion Organizations; Market Men and Women; National Association of Motor Mechanics and Technicians (NAMMT); and National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) to partner with the State Government in its mass literacy programme tagged EkoNke Koo (Lagos is Learning).
This call was made by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr Obafela Bank-Olemoh during a stakeholders’ meeting on Monday, 24th October, 2016 at the Secretariat,Alausa. He admonished the citizens of the State especially members of the groups represented to take advantage of the programme which he believes will take their enhance productivity in their businesses.
Mr. Bank–Olemoh further stressed that the administration of His Excellency, Gov.AkinwunmiAmbode is an all-inclusive one and is committed to eradicating Illiteracy from the State through the EkoNke Koo Programme.
Also speaking at the stakeholders’ meeting, the Special Adviser to the Governor, Central Business District (CBD),Mr. AgboolaDabiri encouraged the stakeholders to see the programme as a big opportunity to turn around their lives and businesses for the better.
One of the high points of the event was the presentation of Award of Recognitions to organisations and individuals that have contributed immensely to the Adult Literacy Programmes of the State, these included the Christ Apostolic Church,AgbalaItura, Oke-odo; Action Health Organisation; Ikorodu Lion Club; Mr Andrew Korede and AlhajaFolashade Usman.
Mr. Bank-Olemoh equally handed over the ‘’EKO NKE KOO’’ learning centre’s signages and flyers to the representative of IyaOloja General, Mrs FolashadeTinubuOjo; the President Automobile Mechanics, Lagos State chapter and the representatives of the NURTW to publicize and creates awareness in their various Learning centres.
In response, the representative of the NURTW, Mr Olusegun Spencer appreciated the Government on behalf of other stakeholders for its genuine concern for the citizens of Lagosand promised to ensure more of their members become literate.
The Permanent Secretary of the Office of The Special Adviser on Education, Mr AjibolaAriyibi, in his closing remarks appreciated the stakeholders for thesupport given to the Government and assured them that they will benefit more from the programme.
